The Donald S. Pihl Oral History Transcript consists of a 95 page transcribed oral history interview. Pihl is considered the "Father" of the Army Acquisition Corps. He reflects on his time at the U.S. Army War College. He also details his service and challenges as military deputy to the assistant secretary of the Army (Research, Development and Acquisition). Pihl discusses the Army Materiel Command, the Acquisition Corps, and organizational issues and changes. He also shares what work he did after retirement.

Lieutenant General (LTG) Donald S. Pihl was born in San Francisco, California (CA). He was commissioned into the United States (U.S.) Army through Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and went into the U.S. Army Armor School in August 1959.
